AIKCU’s cost-saving opportunities give members greater buying power
AIKCU is pleased to help its members save time and money through three avenues:

Self-funded employee health insurance through the AIKCU Benefit Alliance.

AIKCU service agreements that provide savings on software and library databases.

Collaborative business agreements that offer discounts and pricing negotiations on products and services tailored to the unique needs of higher education.
Self-Funded Employee Health Insurance
Members can join a self-funded employee health insurance program through the AIKCU Benefit Alliance, a collaborative health insurance purchasing organization serving AIKCU campuses.
The Alliance operates under a jointly administered arrangement with Anthem Health Plans of Kentucky, Aspirant, and the Know Your Rx Coalition. It administers:

Student-athlete medical plans
AIKCU member presidents conceived the idea of the Alliance as a way to better manage health insurance costs. It became fully operational in 2007 and now serves 11 AIKCU institutions and one affiliate member. While the Alliance never guarantees against rising health care costs, participants have seen significant savings.

AIKCU Collaborative Agreements
AIKCU offers a wide range of products and services in collaboration with the Coalition for College Cost Savings, E&I Cooperative Services, and the HESS Consortium.
The Coalition for College Cost Savings

The Coalition gives AIKCU members access to national contracts and services that can improve processes and cut costs.

The Coalition uses the collective buying power of 31 member organizations in 29 states to help nearly 900 independent higher ed institutions reduce the cost of delivering education.
E&I Cooperative Services
E&I offers its 6,000 member institutions a broad portfolio of competitively solicited contracts with industry-leading suppliers, as well as innovative sourcing solutions.
E&I is the only member-owned, nonprofit sourcing cooperative exclusively focused on serving the procurement needs of the education community.
