LEXINGTON, Ky., Oct. 1, 2026 — Kaitlyn Orange, president of the Brescia University Student Government Association, has been appointed to the 2026-27 Kentucky Board of Student Body Presidents. Orange will represent the Association of Independent Kentucky Colleges and Universities and serve as the convener of Kentucky’s independent college student leaders.

“Kaitlyn Orange is an outstanding student-athlete who embodies what we call the Brescia Difference,” Brescia President Madison C. Silvert said. “Through her efforts and influence in academics, athletics, student government, and other activities, she puts into practice the university’s values of service and leadership. Kaitlyn will make a great representative to the Kentucky Board of Student Body Presidents.”

Orange is a senior majoring in English. She is vice president of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and a member of the Women’s Track and Field Team. Her awards include the Spirit of St. Angela Merici Award in 2026, the St. Catherine Scholar-Athlete Women’s Track and Field Award in 2025 and 2026, and track and field awards for Champion of Character in 2025 and 2026.

“I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to serve as the AIKCU student representative,” Orange said. “Being able to connect with and learn from Student Body presidents across the state is something I am genuinely looking forward to. Each of us brings a different perspective and unique experiences from our own campuses, and I believe there is so much value in that. We can learn so much from one other, and I am thrilled to build relationships, work together, and share ideas to make a meaningful difference for students across Kentucky. I am incredibly thankful for the opportunity to represent Brescia University and to carry the spirit of the Brescia Difference with me as I serve alongside student leaders across our state. I hope to contribute to a culture of service and connection, and make a positive impact for students in the months ahead.”

Orange is from Manitou, Kentucky. She is the daughter of David and Renee Orange and a 2023 graduate of Madisonville North Hopkins High School.

“Kaitlyn is an exceptional student leader, and we are incredibly proud to have her represent both Brescia University and AIKCU on the Kentucky Board of Student Body Presidents,” Brescia Assistant Dean of Students Isaac Duncan said. “Her integrity, strong work ethic, compassion, and commitment to servant leadership have made her an invaluable member of our campus community. I am confident she will bring the same thoughtful leadership and dedication to this role as she represents independent college students from across Kentucky at the state level.”

The Kentucky Board of Student Body Presidents was established by state statute in 2013. It includes the student government leader from each of Kentucky’s eight public universities, the student member of the board of regents of the Kentucky Community & Technical College System, and one student body president representing AIKCU members. The KBSBP advises the legislative and executive branches, the Kentucky Council on Postsecondary Education, and Kentucky’s university presidents on postsecondary education issues and the concerns of college students.
