This past summer we began our 2 Minute Tour project. These videos are our attempt distill the campus visit into two minutes in order to pique the interest of prospective students. Our latest 2 Minute Tour takes us to Lindsey Wilson College:
AIKCU’s five interns - representing Asbury College, Campbellsville University, Lindsey Wilson College, and St. Catharine College - recently finished their final work and class assignments and returned to their home campuses. (See an earlier profile of all five of the interns here.) From mid-January to April these outstanding students spent approximately 30 hours per week working in a state agency and met twice a week for seminar classes. The classes were taught by veteran Courier-Journal reporter Dick Wilson and Dr. Amy Watts of the Kentucky Long Term Policy Research Center, and featured many guest speakers representing all areas of Kentucky government.
We caught up with three of our interns shortly before the semester ended to ask them what they learned from the experience and how they felt it impacted their lives.
This was the 9th year of the AIKCU Frankfort Semester Internship Program. In even years, AIKCU interns work directly with members of the General Assembly. For more information on the intern program, visit http://www.aikcu.org/about/initiatives/frankfortinternships/.
On February 26, AIKCU’s career services directors hosted the 24th annual Spotlight recruitment fair to give students from Kentucky’s independent colleges and universities a chance to connect with potential employers, internship opportunities, and graduate schools. Check out what some of the participants had to say about the experience in this video.
Council on Postsecondary Education Interim President Brad Cowgill sat down with John Chowning, Campbellsville University VP for Church and External Relations, during a recent visit to CU to film an episode of “Dialogue on Public Issues.” In this thirty minute interview Cowgill discusses higher education reform, the Double the Numbers initiative, the Kentucky Chamber’s recent report on higher education, and the role of Kentucky’s public and independent sectors in helping Kentucky reach its higher education goals.
